Global Network Security Up By 16%

RNCOS: The escalating instances of security bypass, data hacking and denial-of-service attacks are just a few reasons that has made securing the network a crucial task for businesses. The emergent IT security market has significantly evolved to play a more qualified role over the past couple of years with customers demanding more reliable and multi-functional devices, software applications.

Revenue from global IT security market appliances and software grew roughly by two percent between the periods from the fourth quarter of 2005 to the first quarter of the current year. IT security Industry revenues crossed $1.5 billion during the first quarter of 2006. The global IT security market is divided into product categories, with integrated security appliances and software contributing 75 percent, followed by intrusion protection and detection systems which constitute roughly about 15 percent and the remaining ten percent is attributed to gateway anti-virus.

Cisco is the market leader for security software systems with 35 percent market share, followed by Check Point Technologies and Juniper jointly with nine percent share.
