UK Households contain £95bn of electronic equipment

GFKMS: The value of electronic* products within UK household has risen by £3 billion in 2 years, making equipment within the average house now worth nearly £4,000.

The average lounge has over £1,555 worth of electrical products inside, making it the most valuable room. Across the UK, lounges contain over £38bn worth of electronic products, and is growing due to the increased purchasing of flat panel TVs. Kitchen’s contain an average of £1000 worth of electronics and home offices have more than £550 of goods. Laptops and associated products with wireless capability have driven the growth within home office products, making the value of electronic products within all UK home offices £13bn.

With £95 billion pounds worth of consumer electronic products within households in the UK, it’s important that every householder closely considers the value of their own possessions, and makes sure they are adequately insured.

Within homes, the single most expensive product is a flat panel TV which costs on average £782. Multi-room products, such as mobile phones, digital cameras and MP3 players are worth over £604 within an average household, £15bn across the UK. This area of portable electronics has seen growth of 12% since 2004.
