Revenues for the world’s IPTV Service Industry is Forecasted to Reach $12.8 billion by 2010
Multimedia Research Group: updates the IPTV global Forecast for Asia, Europe, North America, and the Rest of the world.
This latest forecast is an update to the IPTV global Forecast – 2006 to 2009 published March 2006. It incorporates the most recent information on IPTV deployments, including:
- The current and planned deployments of IPTV services by large carriers in Europe.
- The current and planned IPTV deployments by competitive and smaller carriers in Europe.
- The current state of IPTV deployments at AT&T, BellSouth, and Verizon in the U.S.
- The initiation of IPTV trials in China and India that indicate very large future IPTV deployments.
- The success of a number of early IPTV deployments in Canada, Europe, and Asia.
- We are forecasting that the number of DSL subscribers will grow from 181 million in 2006 to 317 million in 2010, a compounded annual growth rate of 15 percent.
The number of global IPTV subscribers will grow from 8.0 million in 2006 to 50.7 million in 2010, a compound annual growth rate of 58 percent.
Europe is leading the market and has higher subscriber numbers than the previous forecast. Prospects for IPTV in Asia have improved and have resulted in a higher forecast. There has been a significant delay in AT&T's IPTV deployment in the U.S. that is pulling the North American forecast down significantly.
The global IPTV service revenue forecast is $1.7 billion in 2006 growing to $12.8 billion in 2010, a compound annual growth rate of 65 percent. Of the three the regions, Europe and North America are generating a significant amount of this revenue; Asia is generating a lower amount of revenue due to lower average prices.
