Indian Mobile Youth Fuels the AsiaPacific Market

w2forum India is now one of the fastest growing mobile phone markets in the world, fuelling the uptake among mobile youth in the Asia-Pacifc region. World Forum launches new data from their mobileYouth project, a uniqpue rovider of market intelligence relating to the youth market and its adoption and usage of mobile devices, technologies, services and applications.The number of mobile youth will increase in the Asia-Pacific region, doubling from 71 million in 2004 to over 151 million mobile youth by 2007. There will be increased spending of Asia-Pacific mobile youth on voice and data services, spending more than $43 billion dollars on these services by 2007, an increase of $10 billion dollars since 2005. India will be one of the countries fuelling this growth, and along with USA, Brazil, China and Turkey will account for over half of all mobile youth by 2007, together reaching a total of 197 million youth mobile phone subscribers and accounting for 54% of the global market share. In India alone, youth mobile ownership will grow by 300%, with the mobile youth growing from 8.3 million to 27.6 million by 2007. This has meant children are spending far more on mobile phones. In 2004 Indian children were spending around $437 million a year on their mobile phones, currently they spend on average $856 million a year but by 2007 this will have almost trebled to $2460 million a year.
